A Little Bit About Us!

Chase River Elementary School is a friendly, warm, learning place located in the south end of Nanaimo. We are a K to 7 school currently with 12 divisions enrolling 238 children. Our catchment areas include Extension and Chase River communities.

The highly experienced staff of Chase River Elementary strives to create an educational climate that focuses on success for all learners, encouraging each child to achieve academically, physically and socially to the best of his/her ability. School programs and practices are based on current educational research aimed at preparing children to be independent, lifelong learners ready to take on the challenges of the twenty-first century. The staff are committed to creating a safe, engaging learning environment.

Our school was built in 1951 and has a long and rich history. In our halls we proudly display class pictures dating back to 1951! Over the years one thing has never changed–we have always had great pride and school spirit. Once a Cheetah always a Cheetah.

In the last couple of years our school has had the following (just to name a few):

• Washroom upgrades
• New flooring in some rooms
• The addition of I-Pads and Chromebooks to classrooms
• Fully stocked earthquake kiosk
• Beautiful new adventure playground
